In metalcasting, a core is a shaped body made of sand which forms the interior features of the casting. The mold provides a space for the molten metal to go, while the core keeps the metal from filling the entire space.
Ferroloy uses resin coated sand utilizing automatic and manual hotbox core machines. Core coatings are utilized as needed.
For very complex cores that previously may have required assembly, Ferroloy will have the cores 3D sand printed by a third-party and shipped in.
All customer core boxes are recorded in the tooling module of Odyssey (ERP). Each core box is assigned a location with activity tracked and monitored.
